Our "Lost & Found" is starting to overflow! Items not claimed by 7:30 pm on Thursday, October 17, will be donated. To look for lost items, please check-in at the office between 7:30 am - 4:00 pm. You can also look for lost items during Parent Teacher Conferences.
Are you missing a large, outdoor Halloween decoration? If so, please call the office at 605-362-3530 to describe and claim. There were two items found on our playground. One of the items has been claimed.

With the change in seasons, please make sure your student is dressed appropriately for the weather. Below are the guidelines that we follow. Keep in mind, the playground does not have any coverage from the wind.

Front circle drive reminders! We appreciate your cooperation with this.
- If you are dropping off or picking up your child in the front circle drive, you cannot park your vehicle and leave it there. At dismissal, you can stay in your vehicle and wait for your student(s) to come to you – but you cannot park and leave the vehicle.
- If you are going to get out of your vehicle, you must park in the parking lot or on the street.
- You cannot wait in your vehicle in the left lane of the front circle drive. The left lane is strictly for moving vehicles.
- Pull all the way up to the vehicle in front of you so we can prevent a back-up of traffic on Discovery Ave.
- Children should exit the car on the passenger side of the vehicle to avoid vehicles driving through the left lane.
- Do not stop midway through the circle drive to drop off your student - this becomes a safety hazard.
Dr. Seuss' Cat in the Hat visited classroom 104 to talk about germs and staying healthy because “we do not like germs here or there - we do not like germs anywhere!”
On “Discovery Way Wednesday,” classroom 101 celebrated a great month of following “The Explorer Way” with "Art in the Classroom"! Students used construction paper, popsicle sticks, and their art supplies to create amazing art pieces. Way to go, classroom 101!
Fourth grade ULE (Unique Learning Experiences) or Gifted students are safely mixing chemicals to create visible color changes of water-based substances. There are some future scientists in these photos! Excellent work, ULE students!
Next week is Jefferson High School's Homecoming. They are having dress-up days, and Discovery is participating! We are looking forward to a fun-filled week!

Classroom 206 is learning about hermit crabs and how to care for them. What better way to learn than to have a few hermit crabs as pets in your classroom for the entire school year! How exciting, 206!
The PTO is asking for candy donations for their upcoming fall dance, which is on Friday, October 25. The candy is used as prizes for the games. Bags of candy can be dropped off in the Discovery office. Thank you for helping to make this a successful event!
