If your student rides the school bus, please check his or her backpack for bus changes effective Monday, December 4. An email and a text was also sent.

Classroom 506 tested various edible liquids to see if they had sediments after mixed with water, and then they tasted them. The different substances were sugar, pepper, cumin, and citric acid. They discovered what ingredients would be good for a salad dressing and those that would not. What a fun science experiment!
A few reminders if you are attending the 5th grade music program on Thursday, November 16.
For the day performances, doors will open five minutes before the program starts. If you come early, you will have to wait in the front entry way.
- For the 8:30 am performance, doors will open at 8:25 am.
- For the 1:45 pm performance, doors will open at 1:40 pm.
Please park in the parking lot or on the street. Do not park along the circle drive.

We are not sending home or mailing hardcopies of first quarter report cards. You can access your student(s) grades through the Parent Portal.
To view your student’s grades:
1. Login to your Parent Portal.
2. Select Grades.
3. Select your student (top right). If you have more than one student, there is a drop-down to select each student.
4. Make sure you’ve selected Q1 (for 1st quarter grades). Your student’s grades will display on the screen.
To print your student’s report card:
1. Select Documents.
2. Select K-5 Standard Report Card.
3. The report card will display for you to print.
If you have questions or difficulty accessing your student’s grades, please call the office.

Discovery is participating in United Way’s "Coins for Kids" campaign starting today through Thursday, November 9. Last week, all students were given a canister to fill with coins and return to the school. The coins provide books for children in South Dakota as part of the Sioux Empire United Way funded program, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Classroom K05 students were challenged to complete more than five Dreambox lessons the last week of October. Eleven students reached or exceeded the goal. Great job, students!
Classroom 101 had a guidance lesson with Mrs. Jacee Johnson, school counselor. Students were practicing identifying their “Zones of Regulation” using Twister mats. Looks like fun, classroom 101!
